34year old actress commits suicide after long awaited depression



34-year-old South African actress, Shoki Mokgapa, has  succumbed to death after a long battle with clinical depression.


Her management in a statement on Thursday, confirmed that the actress who made her television debut in ITV UK drama, Wild at Heart, took her own life.

Part of the statement reads…

“After a long struggle with clinical depression she took her life on Tuesday 25th of September at the age of 34. She was a brave woman who had been seeking help but the disease proved to be stronger than she was”

“Her family and friends appreciate all the love extended to them from her peers and fans,” it says.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has declared that it would begin an indefinite strike starting from December 12, 2018. The polytechnic lecturers will join their university colleagues who have been on strike since November 4th to press home their demands with the Federal Government. The National President of ASUP, Usman Dutse, in a chat with Premium Times said the federal government had failed to meet the demands of the polytechnic lecturers. Prior to this impending strike, the union had on October 2 issued a 21-day ultimatum to the government before it extended it to November.
