Senate passes electoral act for amendment bill

The Senate on Tuesday passed the fourth version of the Electoral Act 2010 (Amendment) Bill, 2018. President Muhammadu Buhari had declined assent to the bill three times, citing some constitutional and drafting issues. During the just-ended annual recess of the National Assembly, its Joint Committee on INEC met to work on the document based on the issues raised by the president. Flood in Lagos state as snake emerge into action.

As the heavy downpour continues unabated in Lagos, South-West Nigeria, residents have continued to lament cases of flooding in their areas. Rainy season is supposed to be a season that brings cooler temperature and amazing weather. It is always a welcome relief from the scorching heat of the dry season. But due to lack of drainages and inability of Vision Scape to keep up with refuse disposal, reverse has been the case. One area that has continued to feel the negative effect is Ojo. According to Daily Independent, many residents in the flooded area are no longer living comfortably. They complained that dangerous animals such as snakes and scorpions but to mention a few are now co-habitants of houses in the flooded and swampy area. It was learnt that people in the community are now living with palpable fear. Rashford equalled a 52-year-old record for most appearances in a calendar year, according to The Times. The feat was first set by Jack Charlton in 1966. And just like then England played 17 games in 2018, their joint most of all time. There are 11 England stars on 15 appearances for a calendar year. They are: Roger Hunt, Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, Nobby Stiles, George Cohen, Ray Wilson, Gordon Banks (all 1966), Gary Lineker, Des Walker (both 1990), John Stones and Eric Dier (both 2018).
